THE LOCAL AREA AND ITS EXPERIENCES
Milano Marittima: what to do and what to see
Milano Marittima was born in the early twentieth century as a seaside resort project for Cervia, thanks to a far-sighted agreement between the municipality and the Maffei family, among the most important Milanese bourgeois families. The project was inspired by the ideas of Ebenezer Howard and the Garden City concept, an innovative urban planning model that envisioned a city where residences and nature blended seamlessly.
Far from the chaotic urban centers of the time, Milano Marittima emerged as a vacation paradise, nestled in the lush pine forest and featuring elegant Art Nouveau villas nestled among the pine trees. While retaining its soul as a garden city, it evolved rapidly, soon becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination, with hotels and boarding houses surrounded by the lush pine forest. Just like the Hotel Suisse!
